Paperback release

The del Rey paperback edition of my story collection, Getting to Know You, is officially released today! It's a handsome little book. Great for reading on trains and planes. It even comes in a Kindle version. This is my first outing with del Rey, an imprint of Random House, and I'm curious what kind of job they do selling it. Let me know in the comments if you see this book on shelves and where (indy or chain book store, airport, grocery/convenience store, and so on). I like the cover art even though it's not especially sci-fi-ish. Perhaps they are angling for a broader readership? Lots of cool jacket blurbing.

Thanks, guys. The cover strikes me as one a person who doesn't know they like science fiction could pick up by happy accident.

I think 2009 will be the year I buy into an ereader. I was thinking of a 2nd generation Kindle, due out this spring, but I'm curious about the Sony as well. How does it stack up against the Kindle?

I wish I would have thought to go out and buy this before the long weekend. I'm currently in hibernation mode for four days, hopefully waiting out this cold snap and blanket of ice fog.

I must go out and find this next week so I can read it and re-read Counting Heads before Mind Over Ship comes out.

I can't wait to read them all!

I personally prefer the sony reader. the newest one is touch interactive and has a better interface overall. the one thing the kindle has is the amazon.com wireless download. the sony reder connects to one's machine via usb to get books from the Sony eConnect.

my suggestion is to see if you can get a chance to play with the most recent Sony eBook (model : PRS-700BC) and see if you like the interface.

Day 6 of the Cold Snap of '08. I'm hibernating too. How well I remember the Snap of '89!

Good suggestion about the ereader. I'd sure like to look at each of these machines.

Shout-Out to the World at Large: Does anyone know how a guy in Fairbanks, Alaska, can try out the Kindle (ideally the 2nd generation) or the Sony eBook PRS-700BC?
